Spring concert – thank you

We had another very successful and enjoyable concert on 18th March. We raised £215 for Drake Music; thank you to our wonderful audience and players alike. Rehearsals resume on 8th April, and our next concert will be on Monday 17th June. We’ll be playing two works by Beethoven: his overture King Stephen and the Romance in F Major for Violin and small orchestra, and the first suite from Bizet’s Carmen.

We still have vacancies, especially for string players. If you’re free on Monday afternoons and would like to play in an orchestra, why not get in touch?

Spring concert – 18th March 2024

Do come and join us for our Spring concert on Monday 18th March at 2.30 pm in the Southside Community Centre, 117 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh EH8 9ER. We’ll be featuring some British music, with Eric Coates’ London Suite, Alun Hoddinott’s Welsh Folk Song Suite, as well as the “Radio 4 Theme Tune” which draws on a medley of popular tunes. And we’ll finish with a selection of Richard Rodgers’ music for Carousel and the Carousel waltz.

All are very welcome. Admission is free – no tickets required. Tea and coffee will be available. The concert is once again in aid of Drake Music Scotland, the nation’s leading arts organisation providing music making opportunities for people with disabilities, and we’ll have a collection basket available if you’d like to make a donation.
